Don’t Become A Social Media Prude
You have just signed up for all the latest Social Networking sites and have registered 3 new blogs today, sounds like you should be rolling in Social Media success right? Wrong, here’s why.
Great! You have just stepped into the world of Social Media. You have finally got off the bandwagon of sticking with the status quo and not embracing change. You are venturing into a new world out there and took on the advice of your peers of the famous network sites they have told you about.
Facebook, Myspace and LinkedIN were the top 3 choices everyone has recommended. Your first task was to go ahead and register your profile and set it up. Great, now what….
Waste of Space
You do not want your Social Media Sphere to be collecting dust like old baseball cards or comic books. Why set up these sites if your not going to use it to it’s full potential and capacity. Think about it with your Social Network sites what good is it if you have zero friends or connections. What about your blogs, what happens if you don’t have a community of friends or readers?
The same applies to Twitter Accounts. Great you signed up and now are auto posting all your Blog Feeds but what happens if there is no interaction in your Twitter world?
Pop Your Social Media Cherry
Connect and Engage is your 2 major friends in Social Media.
- Connect – You want to connect to as many friends and associates as you can on these sites. If your main goal is attract customers to your business then start your sphere of influence by past and current customers.
Connect with your current family and friends. You can’t just expect to connect to everyone in the world just because your client base is everyone. Start building a foundation from the ground up and numbers will come.
- Engage – This is the most important aspect of the process. Don’t become a prude and get out there and engage your community.
Engage with your readers if you run a blog, ask questions in your blog, comment on other blogs similar to yours. This is the fastest way of increasing an audience and traffic to your blog.
Engage your Social Networks by commenting on people pages, commenting on pictures, submit funny pictures or interesting links. Do something that’s the nature of the game. Don’t be looked upon as an inactive account with no activity.
The Social Media Sphere is a very smart community and will run right over you if you think just by sitting back because you have registered Social Media Sites will grant you immediate success.
Do you see value in Engaging or is it the same without it?
